CYCLE ROAD RACE.
CAMBRIA ROSE BOWL. FINAL COAIAIENCED. Twelve cyclis'ts set out this afternoon on a road race of 37 miles in the final of the season’s series conducted by the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club for the Cambria Rose Bowl. Commencing at the corner of High and Princes Streets, the course led via Princes Street and the Glover and Waihi Roads to Normanby, thence to Okaiawa, Kaponga, and Manaia, and returning along the Alain South Road and Princes Street to the finishing point at the Hawera Post Office. A strong northerly wind blowing at- 2 o’clock when the limit men were despatched would prove a handicap on the outward journey, hut assist the riders during the return. The limit men, whose handicap was lOnrin, were F. G. Wasley, S. W. Kelson and H. Seaton. They were followed in succession by G. Ingram and A. G. , Aloore (6min), G. Walker and C. Gilbert (4.) min), L. Heatley (3min), F. C. Brown and C. Griffin (l-nrin), and J. Dykes and W. Stoning (scr). Gilbert and Heatley are New Plymouth riders. The remainder belong to t-hq Hawera. Club. It was expected that the race would take about two and a. quarter- hours.
