SALE AT BURNSIDE

Generally, there was little alteration in the sheep prices ruling - at Burnside to-dav. hat cattle were slightly easier hut bacon pigs were firmer. There was : i sound demand tor best classes of store cattle. f
hat Cattle. —Extra special bullocks sold to £'34, extra heavy £2l to £23, medium heavy. £lB to £2O, medium i 'I t £l6 to £l7 10s, heavy heifers £l4 15s to i£lo 10s, medium heavy £l3 os to £l4, medium light £l2 to £l3, prime heavy cows £l4 to £l6 10s, medium heavy £l3 to £l3 15s. Prime ox beef sold on basis of 48s, plain 455, prime- heifers 455, cows and light heifers 25s to 40s per 1001 b. Fa t Sheep.—Prices were : Extra special wethers 56s 3d to 665, prime heavy 46s 9cl to 50s, prime 39s 6d to 41s, medium 34s 9d to 37s 6d, light 31s to 32s 6d, best ewes 41s to 45s 6d, p ime heavy 35s 6d to 38s, medium 20s to 255. Prime wethers sold on a basis of 6(cl to 7d, prime ewes ojd, aged ewes 4-Jd.
ADDINGTON QUOTATIONS
CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 5.
The yarding of fat cattle was smaller tlian the week before, and the market slightly irregular. Prices, except for very prime and handy weights, were inclined, to show a little weakening. There was a much smaller yarding of fat sheep which saw an advance in both ewes and wetlicns, the latter forming the larger part of the offerings. Inrihe store sheep section hoggets and ewes were in good demand, but the forrnei* did not sell up to the advan-e l rates of the week before.
Spring Lambs.— Twenty-five spring lambs were penned—the largest offering of the season. A very prime lot of fi-e made 40s 3d to 41s 9cl. others made 30s lOd to 39s 6d, arid a few small ones failed to sell.
Fat Sheep.—The range of prices W as: Extra prime wethers ,to_ 51s, prime heavy wethers 42s Gd to 47s 6d, prime medium wethers 38s to 425, medium wethers 33s to 37s Gd, shorn wethers 27s lOd to 33s Gd, extra prime ewes to 48s 7d, prime ewes 35s to 39s Gd. medium ewes 28s Gd to 335, aged ewes 25s to 28s. Fat Cattle.—For extra prime handy wei"lit steers and heifers values were from 47s Gd to 50s per 1001 b, average prime steer beef 42s to 445, medium •>Q S to 41s, plain heavy steers 32s to 37 s. prime cows and heifers 41s to 435, medium 35s to 38s down to 30s. A line of 30 steers from Wanganui made i-29 -to £2l 2s Gd.
