At a conference on colonisation today' between British Labour members and delegates of the Empire Parliamentary Assocaation, a bombshell was di-op-ped :bv Mr Thomas Johnson. Labour member for Stirling, who dedai-ed that he had witnessed the spectacle of British liiai-vesters kept in undei-ground cages at Winnipeg railway station, guarded by an armed soldier and two dozen policemen. They were not permitted to leave and were herded, together like sheep. “British citizens are not in the habit of being treated in this- way,” Mr Johnson declared. Mr Thomas Sbaiw (Minister for Labour) and Mir Ramsay McDonald declared that they accompanied Mr Johnson and had seen lihe conditions with their own eyes.
