SANDSTAR, foaled 1921, is a bay horse standing 1(3.2 high and is of a beautiful temper and constitution. No thoroughbred seen south of the line has, or had, a stouter strain of blood than Saudslar. His grandsire on the male side is Rock Sand, and oil the dam's side Bright Steel. His great grand si res were “Sanfoin” and Henry of Navarre ’’ (sires side), and St. .Simon and Pesitano (dam's side). These are names to conjure with and columns could be written of the performances of the progeny of the great sires named. SANDSTAR, during his short stay on the turf, was a successful performer, also his sire, Sands of The Orient, and his grandsire, Rock Sand, who 'won .the Derby and St’. Leger and Two Thousand Guineas in Ragland. Sandst'ar broke his fetlock .joint and only raced on ten occasions, twice as a two-vear-old, .beiniounplaced, eight times a-s a three-yeai” old, being placed eni every occasion, winning five, also once second and twice third. -The races he Avon included: Kensington Handicap, Whangarei, 6 furlongs; Norma ruby Plate, Auckland, of 400 soa's, 1 mile; •Christmas Handicap, Auckland, of 600 so vs, 1 mile; StcAA-ards’ Handicap, Auckland, GOO soa’s, 6 furlongs; Autumn Handicap, Avondale, 600 sovs, 9 furlongs; second to Suiweyor at Takapuna in the Borough Handicap, 7 furlongs; third at Takapuna in the Ngataringa Welter, 7 furlongs; being beaten by Spoonv and Raceful; third at To Aroha in the Hot Springs Handicap, beaten by Regent and Steel Bar. .Sandstar and Bisogne are No. 18 sires, St. Evelyn being the grandd'am o'f Bisogne .and tho gre'atgranddam of Sandstar. Sandstar's first foals aro ho-av yearlings, and they point to him becoming a great sHe, and sure foal-getter.
