THEFT OF MONEY. (.By Telegraph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM*, Sept. 6. James Arthur Robert Stewart, aged 27, was convicted of systematic thefts from his employers when charged with fraudulently converting his employers’ (the Marlborough Engineering Company, now in liquidation) money. There were eighteen charges, involving amounts ranging from 7s 6d to £3 5s 6d, and extending over a period of two years. Though the accused pleaded not guilty he made a confession to the police on his arrest, admitting the theft of ai sum up to £ooo. He was sentenced to three months hard labour on each charge, the sentences on the first four chargee to be cumulative, and on the remainder to be concurrent.
