AMF. RICAN DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP. MAY LEAVE Til COUNTRY. (Australian Press Association.) ABW YORK, Aug. 29. With three Australian teams in the quarter- finals, it seemed to he indicated, particularly <m their showing of the past two days, tliat the doubles championship of America would he taken out or the country this year. Hawke’s and Patterson’s victory over Jones and Ingraham was not won with difficulty, and the Australians would literally, have overwhelmed their opponents but lor fbe fact that the former were erratic and inaccurate. They were netting frequently. Their play was spotty, but when it was good it was brilliant. Terrific lxeat ali'ected the players of both teams in the- doubles match Cummings and Moon v. Van Hyn and Allison," Allison and Cummings tiring badly H to wards the end.
