Mr. W. A. loi-nsr, chairman of the New Zealand Dairy 1 Produce Board, arrives in Hawera to-day. To-morrow ihe will address a meeting of the director delegates of the Federation of Taranaki Co-operative Dairy Companies. Colonel P. Stevenson, of Auckland, wdio was a passenger by the Maui Pomare from Norfolk Island, says that the island’s possibilities are unlimited. If a regular .service were established with Auckland it would be- of great benefit to the islanders, and New Zealand would .soon have the bulk of the trade. If a voyage were delayed or cancelled, much packed fruit was lost, and great dissatisfaction caused. The islanders had 'only two days’ notice to prepare the general cargo, and 1000 cases of fruit,, besides other produce, for Auckland, and the Maui Pofnare’s call had clashed with that of the Macamba, from, Sydney, the previous evening. Tourist traffic, .also, was now uncertain, and numerous visitors had been compelled to put in a prolonged holiday. Tinder the new Administrator, Judge Horliert. Norfolk Island’s prospects were . very bright, hut it was essential that a system of . taxes should be substituted for the communal labour now required on the roads. The film, after screening here, will be •sen to Eflstree, England.
