ELTHAM JUVENILE BALL.

BRIGHT ARRAY OF COSTUMES.

Tlie fourth annual children’s ball organised by the Eltham School Commist(teo was held in. the Town Hall on Friday 'evening and, from both a financial amd social viewpoint, proved a greater success than either of the .preceding fixtures. Fully 120 juvenile couples en*'lived in dancing, and the combined attendance' of (parents, dancers and' nondancers is 'estimated at between 6UO and 700. The hail, with streamer decorations and an endless variety of costumes .of every colour and shade, presented an animated .scone until 10 p.m., when the children were entertained at supper and .gave: up the floor space to adult 'devotees of terpsichore. The general conduct and oversight of all the arrangements for the children’s' enteri a--Lament was in. the capable 'hands' of Messrs A. B. Kemp (organiser) alnd W. Ricketts (chairman of school commititcc), wlio licLVCj for two snc-cossi'V’G years, made a signal success of this popular feature of school life. Mr H. A. Nodder and members of the teaichi in'g staff, assisted in no small degree by Mrs A. Beesley (pianist©), are to be congratulated on ithe result of their tuition, amply demonstrated in the varied and comprehensive programme of dances indulged in toy the youthful revellers. The supplying of supper to •the big assemblage was expeditiously ■administered toy a large and willing committee of ladies led toy Mesdames W. Ricketts and W. Thornhill, whose thanks are due to parents and local tradesmen who donated the necessary ingredients. The hall decorations were effected by a numerically strong band of workers under the direction of Mrs F. Casey. Messrs H. A. Nodder, G. H. Percy and A. E. Gilliver -were efficient and helpful masters of ceremonies.
