DAIRY INDUSTRY.

T L. JOLL COMPANY’S ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of the T. L. Joll Dairy Company, to be .presented to the annual meeting on Wednesday, is as below: It will he noticed from the appropriation account that t-he extra realisation on produce for the year ended June 30, 1927, amounted to £22,829 14s 3d. This was much better than anticipated, and the result was that the final pay-out for the 1926-27 season amounted to Is s)d per lb of but-ter-fat. For the past season the whole of the company’s output of cheese was shipped Home on open consignment, one-lialf being consigned to Lovell and Christmas, Ltd., and the other half to J. and J. Lonsdale and Co., Ltd. Out of a total make of 49.405 crates of cheese there still remained 7950 crates to dispose of at the end of the season, including amounts on water and in stock. For balance-sheet purposes tlie amount unsold has been valued at 91 d per lb f.o.b. On this basis of valuation the appropriation account shows a credit balance of £30,066 19s as available for distribution. Out of this? amount the directors recommend that interest on shares at the rate of 5 per cent per annum be paid to shareholders holding fully-paid-up shares, and that the' balance be paid out to suppliers oil but-ter-fat supplied throughout the season. Suppliers have already received Is 7d per lb butter-fat for the past season, and on the balance-sheet valuation there still remains sufficient to bring the payment up to Is 9.20 d per lb. exclusive of interest on shares. Should the final realisation on produce he higher than the estimate, suppliers will receive an increased payment in accordance therewith. The profit- on hulk store and garage, amounting to £199 15s sd, has been placed to reserve. The retiring directors are Messrs. W. A. Guy, A. C. Johnstone, and T. Walsh, all of whom are, eligible and offer themselves for re-election.
