HAYS RED DESTROYED BY FIRE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HOKITIKA, Aug. 17. Fire destroyed a hay-shed at trie mental hospital shortly, after midnight. It contained a quantity of hay arid also fanning implements. Tlie building Avas isolated and the main buildings were in no danger. STEAMER RETURNING TO PORT. AUCKLAND, Aug. 17. The Japanese steamer Waipon Mara, which left port on Tuesday morning for NeAvcaste-1 to load coal for Manila-, is returning to port, and should he in the harbour at 2 p.m. The cause of her return is not known.
