(From Our Own Correspondent). WOMEN’S DIVISION, FARMERS’ UNION. A number of the local branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers Union, at a meeting, decided to hold a novelty dance, with, cards foi the non-dancers, on Friday, August 31. They hope that with some nice prizes, a good supper and orchestral music, to be well patronised. The Women s Division of the Farmers’ Union is now a very istiong movement, noth high ideate, and it is thought that a few social evenings will forward the work, as they want all the local farmers, women-foik to join upSCHOOL HOLIDAYS. The school, after a very isucoestsful quarter, will be closing on Friday for the term) holidays. It is to be hoped that the holidays will benefit the health of the scholars, as there has. been a great amount of isickness during tiie last tem. BISOX’S WIN. The Wharoroa ■ folk are quite elated to know that the racehorse Bisox, belonging to Air Robert Hicks, has recently had two big wins to its credit. It won the Parliamentary Handicap at Wellington and the Winter Oup at Christchurch. This is the first time that either of these events have been won by a South Taranaki horse. On both occasions it paid large dividends, which helped to fill the pockets of a number of local .sports. GENERAL. Influenza' in a very severe form is raging round the country side and causing a lot of inconvenience to the farmers during this very busy season, when one and all are required to cope with the rush of work. . - The factory is now in full .swing, and there is a big flow of milk for this time of the year. PERSONAL. Miss Alarjorie Benton is slowly recovering from her operation, and is now at her home in Auroa. Air D. B. Nicholson, of Whareroa road, is still seriously ill in Craigholm private. hospital.
