HAWERA TROTTING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual general meeting of tlie Hawera Trotting Club was heid las. evening in the Borough Council Chambers-, -the president, Mr B. McCarthy, presiding over a fair attendance of members. Apologies were received from Messrs J. McCarty, J. &. Barrow, and A. Freyne. The president, in a short address to the meeting, the club upon the, successful year just closed. “The club was now one of the chief trotting clubs outside the centres, and out of 37 clubs in the Dominion Hawera was ranked as seventh highest lor stakes paid, and tenth or eleventh in the matter of totaiisator turnover, he said. “We have benefited by the-ex-cellent response of owners and trainers, and it is the policy of the club to tighten up the classes still further. It sired to have only the best class of horses competing, and the club as gvvimo- stake® which would encourage the best in the Dominion. The membership now stood at 135, an increase of ten on the previous year. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following were elected as officers for the ensuing year: President, Mr B. McCarthy (rc-clectcd); vice-president, Mr E. A. Washer (re-elected); horn, treasurer, Mr T. J. Salmon (re-elected); auditor, Mr H. A. Lennon. Conimittec: Messrs 0. Arden, M. BarraKdough, W. .J. Bradford, J. S. Barrow, .T. N. Crocker, W. B. Eearon, B. O. Gnbson, A. J. Hopcroft, 11. L. Kasper, J. Malone, and J. S. T. Short. Stewards: Messrs C. Arden, W. J. Bradford, J. N. Crocker, J. M. Dee,gam, W. -B. Eearon, B. C. Gibson, A. J. Hopcroft, A. C. Johnstone, H. L. Kasper, J. Malone and J. S. T. Short.

The president, Mr B. McCarthy, was re-elected chainnan of the committee for the ensuing year.
