ANNUAL MEETING

Tli© annual meeting of the Hawera Trotting Club will he lieid next Tuesday evening. The fourteenth annual report to be presented re ads as follows. The chub wasa again favoured with good weather conditions for the annual trotting meeting, and although the revenue showed a slight decline compared with the previous year, a creditbalance of £167 6s 6d has been earned forward 'the total) sator investments total ed £37,272 for the two-day,s meeting, a decrease of £4BB on the IJ-< returns. . ~,,, ... J’lrior to last meeting a Bill providing lor tho abolition of what was known jus the receipts tax was passed by Parliament. and whilst this small concession to clubs is appreciated, it is, hoped that in the near future further relief from the heavy taxation still imposed upon trotting and racing clubs will be granted. . The- Government taxes in retepe-ct or tire trotting inditing this year -amounted to- £2901 Ss, less £250 rebate allowed for expenditure on permanent improvements to the course. RDouglas and M. Hammond, to the relatives of whom the sympathy of members has been extended. Nominations for the offices of 'president, vice-president and lion, treasurer, not being in excess of the vacancies to b-e filled.’no election will be necessary. For the offices of committee and Howards, nominations- in excess of the number 'required having been received, an election will take -place at the annual general meeting. There are 13 nominations for 11 seats on the committee. and 14 nominations for 11 •steward's required for the year.
