HAWERA FOOTBALL CLUB.
EUCHRE AND DANCE. The Savoy. Tea Rooms were the s'ceine of much activity last evening, the occasion being the euchre ipalrty and dance organised iby the Haiweira Football Club in aid of the injured players’ fund, Approximately JOO couples took >a-t, and thirty tables were occupied with the euchre tournament. During the evening the members of the Marlborough touring .team, who wore the guests of the evening, were enthusiastically welcomed by the president of the Hntwera Club, Air R. Mortflock. Air E. Pinkhami, manager of the visiting footballers, suitably responded.
The card .tournament was an unqualified success, the games in many eases being exceedingly close, with the result that a goodly uumiber of competitors had ito play off for the various prizes.
An excellent .supper was provided by the ladies’ committee, after which dancing was indulged in to good! miusie supplied' by Afesters Don. Guy and J. Atoloney. Air A. Walker carried out the. duties of AI.C. in a-’capable manner.
About £ls 10s wate taken at the door, and another £5 3s was realised as the result of a) guessing competition, and as the expenses were low: (prizes, etc., being supplied gratuitously) .the fund will be considerably augmented. The prize-,winners' for the euchre were:—Ladies: Miss Bailey Ist,' Airs Kelson 2nd, Airs Paekson 3rd. Men As: Air Barron Ist, Air Bourke 2nd, Air Campbell 3rd. The competition winners were Alias Tomlinson arid. Air N. Paterson, who tied with the correct number 491).
