'MATAPU BRANCH. MEETING OF MEMBERS. A meeting of the Matapu Branch, oi tLa'N.Z. Eairmers’ Union was held on Monday There were present: Messrs F. Nicholas.', P. Henry, T. York O' Robertson, L. Baskin, H. Baskin, H. Sharp. R. Hooker, H. (Eddy. W. A. Guy. W. T. Seed; L. Precce- and R. C. Treweek. In the absence of the president (Mr Fred Beskin) 'Mr 0. Robertson was- voted to the eha ir.
A vote of isympat-hy was accorded M r Ho,skin ,iu his colntinued ill-hea th ami ii ho is now an inmate of the Mount V.ow Hospital, Eltham. The death of Airs George Huire&l, o. Ararata. mother of Mrs W. T. Seed, was referred to and a vote of sympathy with Mrs Seed was carried, members etandinc in s.fence.

A considerable' amount of siokneisst and counter-attractions having ite effect on the attendance, but the function piovecl replete with enjoympnt The branch’ was very much indebted tothe seveia visitors who contributed to the social items, and to Mr Ralp, Hooker, who acted as AI.C. tOrrespon dance was received from the Provincial Executive, urging, the cooperation of the branch- towards making a success, of the Farmers’ Union bale at Jilt-ham on Wednesday night, also a copy of the business dealt with at the Dominion Conference of the; Farmers Union.
n Favourable comment was passed on the large amount of ground covered .an the general usefulness of the conference to all sectionis of the farming; community. Certificates to, the winners of jocal root crop? competition, s were received from the Fields Department through ■Air A. ,T. Glasson and were, very favourably commented on by members, who Lhoniiht the new denauture a, good one. After the general business of the meeting a round the •table discussion took place relative to ailments of diaf,ry •'.attic.
