Dixon was appointed to wait upon the Egmont Racing Club and the Hawera Trotting Club. The approval of the meeting was given to the. organiser’s proposal that a circular letter be sent to the shops and offices asking for the names and addresses of persons willing to assist with the canvass. From the addresses , so obtained the canvassers would be allocated by. the respective area organisers, said the organiser. A brief address was also given by Dr. Mcßhie, in which he stressed that the project was one for the public, and not the Hospital Board, to deal with. The Hospital Board has nothing to do with the scheme as a board, except that it has given its permission for the installation and its sympathy with the project,” said the doctor. ‘'When the installation has been effected the maintenance could be attended to by a public committee.” The doctor also urged the benefits which the installation would give to patients at the hospital, giving-the opinion'that the reception of wireless broadcast of subjects of entertainment as well as instruction constituted a branch of treatment. just . .as important as the other means adopted at the hospital.
