Hospital Radio Fund A FOREWORD. TO the Residents -within the Hawera Hospital District, which includes the Boroughs of Hawera and Eltham, the Counties of Hawera, Eltham and Waimate West, and the Town Board Districts of Manaia, Kapongq, and Normanby:— The essential feature in connection with the effort to raise, roughly, £750, for the purpose of installing Wireless at-the Hawera District Hospital, is that, there shall not be anything in the nature of compulsion exercised m the endeavour to raise the money. It is the desire of the promoters that there sha not be even irritation caused through th that has been approved. The General Committee, which includes representatives from all parts of the Hospital District, believe that given opportunity the people are ready to provide the money as a Freewill Offering’, and the scheme approved is the one which, in the opinion of the Committee, will best provide the opportunity. It has been estimated that a nominal sum per head from/the residents within the area will provide the necessary amount. When there are counted in the children and those who cannot afford to contribute in any degree, it is obvious that those who can afford to do sp n\ust make good the shortage, but if there is the general response to this appeal that is hoped for full success will he achieved without any contributor being called upon to > give a sum that will be missed. The scheme provides for a One Day Drive to afford opportunity for everyone in the district to contribute if able- and willing. To carry out. the scheme a very large body of collectors will be required. Meetings are being held at various centres, and it is urged that all willing to assist in any way shall make a point of attending one of these meetings. If you cannot be present personally send in your name as being willing to act as a collector. ~ The younger people can give very great assistance as collectors, for every street in the towns and every road in the rural districts requires to be covered in ONE DAY. 10 you cannot give money you caii probably give time and effort. Will You Assist ? A few years ago the people of this district made a magnificent response :o the appeal oil behalf of the Blind. Is anyone the poorer to-day for respondng to that appeal ? - . . . ’ ‘ Bear in mind that"the present appeal is made on behalf, of Your Own Sick 'or a permanent benefit. Other hospitals have been equipped with md the benefits resulting have been all that were expected. Do not lag beiind when the cause is good. Show the world that your sick are your care md that you will not have them less well cared for than those m the cities. fet riSit into Ihis effort -and make a success of it. Be a benefactor-a little none/ a little time, a little effort on your part for the Great Result of banshing untold hours of weariness to the sick and afflicted. You will gam more ban you give. ‘ ' „ Young People—We are looking to you for help. We want dozens ox mu from all parts of the district, to Enrol for Service.. Come to. the meetings md hand in your names—if you cannot attend a meeting hand m your name ill the same. (Published by Authority of the,General Committee.)
