DIVER’S INSPECTION. REPORT TO BOARD MEETTXG. A meeting of thie Opunakc Harbour Board was nerd on M-iday, when there were present : Messus x. P. Huglhison u. M. nurst, C. A. Trotter, j. A. pfettigrew, H.. Young., T. id. id. c.jncJadr anti R. C. Watson. Mine works coinmittee {iMtessris C. A. flutter, id. Young and flip chairman; reported having ordered a large diving suit to fit the gear already purchased, they had also engaged Mr Uliybad as diver from July 22, and divung toad commenced on Jui'y 25, the work® oam.mittoe and Air Eraser, Public Works engineer, being present. An inspection of the bottom ill the vicinity of the vhiVif had been systematically carried out, the report showing that boulder stone was common at the river end: of the main wharf. Further cut there was a good bottom, while out paist the end of the wharf there was a. reef of joagiormentte with c aves here and there ;n it. The diver considered this could be satisfactorily blasted. The committee hacl also- miet Mr Leo Mcßeynolds, of Messrs Isherwocdi and Bel lam and had agreed to ailfaw them to make a. zig-zag cutting at the Bottom nf the old jetty road, enabling them to” get shingle from the ’beach to the East Jetty Road. Mr T. Bowman, the hoard’e overseer, in the course of his report, stated that the weather had not' .been too good during the past week, the sea having been a bit choppy. They hacl had one clay ibonfing and ais far a® the diver could make otit. the shot had' done good. •Correspondence was received from Air D. C. Potts, New Plymouth representative of the Northern Steamship Company, regarding the provision of mooring rope®, etc., at the port.
