The Southern Cross was unable to take off to-day for the wireless tests owing to a punctured tyre. The test will lie carried out to-morrow afternoon. Kingston! Smith is anxious for New Zealand to listen in and ascertain if there will he any difficulty in picking up his messages. The wave length is 33.5 metres.

The flight to New Zealand will probably commence on September 1.
