AT BEAUTY’S FEET.

A DAINTY TREAD IS A JOY TO SEE.

Feet of all shapes—'long, narrow, plump, or hroad —can be daintylooking if well eared foir. ft is positively a nightmare to* isorne wont on who, when indulging in swimming exercise, have penorce to show an ugly, ill-shaped naked foot. These conditions need never occur if the feet are carefully groomed ana not neglected. Moreover, the prudent woman, will keep her feet shapely mud free from callouses, corns, dr blisters. She understands that, outside this comfort of knowing and feeling that her feet are not disfigured! by 'blemishes, she will be able to buy a properly-fitting 'shoe —not one a size Larger than its inquired by her size or foot to ease any discomfort.

Comas need great attention. They are not the greatest,of all troubles, but they can prove to be the most uncomfortable. The thick, hardened sikin of a corn iis nerveless and has no blood vessels, and can easily be removed with a com file; fiat care shout'd be given so that it is possible to get at the root of the corn, that causes the. pain by pressing on sensitive, nerves. Soaking the feet night] v in tepid water to which has' been added some medicated bath salt or even kitchen soda r.(one cupful to, a quart of wafer) has proved an excellent method, The corn in most cases can easily be removed with a finger nail, but a. chiropodist should be 06n.sulied if the coni is in such a condition as to need the knife.

Nails should be trimmed by cutting the nail straight ndrosisi the toe, for if cut in a curve the flesh is apt to grow oyer the side of thp naif, causing an ingrowing toenail, which is most painful. Flat feet are most unsightly—tiring and upsetting to the nerves. A flat foot, unless congenital, is caused by the muscles of the foot losing the power of bringing it to its proper symmetrical arch. Judicious exercise will greatly improve this condition. A foot-eager, made of some very light metal, if worn inside the shoe—property fitted to the foot—will give relief to tired, aching fest, for it provides the necessary support to the tired, weak muscles of the arch of the foot. Many women will say that walking exercise is enough for them,.-but walking with tired foot is no pleasure. Exorcise the feet, therefore, before they have in their turn to exercise the body. A woman who walks with a dainty tread is a joy to look at.

The simnle exorcises I advocate here are as follows. They can he performed either sitting down or when tying in bed, except the last exercise:— T.—Bend foot upwards at the ankle Bend toes backwards. II. —Bend toes downwards; do not move the foot. TIT. —Straighten out 1 thi3 ankle white the toes are isttill bent. TV.—Bend the toes upwards, keeping tire ankle rigid. V. —Stand upright with hand® on h’ipg, and raise slowly the heels as high as possible, and lower again aiK rimvlv a'.s possible. This last exercise is one of the best known for strengthening the' muisclesi of the arch of the foot and improving the instep. .
