STAKES TO- MISS FLETE AND
OUR. JACK
Capital courses, with strong l’asi courses and dogs in good form., clmi'acterised the meeting yesterday of the Patea-Hawera Coursing Club, when ; class and an open stake were run. Only a few kills were registered —a proof o the quality of the hares. (Several improvements have been made on the course, which make foi better sport. A scrim fence, which hat been erected on either side of the boyes set the hares on a straight course and gi ve the dogs a better chance of see nip them. The alteration in the position of the judge’s box was considered an improvement, and gave the spectator t a clear view of the course. The officials responsible dor the smooth running of the meeting were a,? follow: Secretary, Mr F. Spooner; treasurer, Mr J. Paterson; slipper. Mi F. Doughty; judge, Mr A. Haskell; hare steward, Mr F. Bourke; slip steward, Mr O. Sheahan; announcer. Mi Laurie Hunt; general supervisor, Mr J. A. McKenna. Results of the two courses were: CLASS STAKE.
