NEW PLYMOUTH EXPRESSES.
NO NIGHT TRAIN. (By Telegraph—Special to The Star.) AVELLINGTON, Aug. 1. The suggestion of Mr. AY". S. Glenn (Rangitikei) that the Railway Department should run a night train with sleepers from New Plymouth to AVellington is not approved by the Minister of Railways, who states that the matter of running a night express between New Plymouth and AYellington has received sympathetic consideration, but ’ the additional traffic likely to result would be quite insufficient to warrant the heavy expenditure entailed in providing additional engine power, sleeping cars and staff. Tlie department recognises tlie material advantages, especially to the business community, which result from the facilities afforded bv a night express service, but in view of tlie fact that the extra revenue received would not give a return commensurate with the expense involved, it is regretted that, tlie time is not opportune for the inauguration of the service.
