KAPUNI STATION

IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED.

The leading commercial men of the district round Kapuni and directors of the dairy factories in that area who use the "Kapuni railway station axe making a big effort to have meats made at that- station. Among tile faciiiies wanted are a daily service, three days each to New Plymouth and to Hiawera, a telephone, and a hand crane for use in the station yard. ' ’ s . Last night the committee held its first meeting. Present: Messrs. C. E. Morrissey, chairman (Newton King, Ltd.), Cnarters (Farmers’ Co-op. Society), R. G. Cook (Ivaponga. Dairy Co.), A. R. Bates and J. Davison (Kaponga retail traders), and J. Guy (Kaponga " carriers). An apology was received from ’Mr. I). Fitzgerald (farming community), who was unable to be present. It was decided that Mr. A. Lees, secretary of the Joll Dairy Go., a representative from the Ivaponga Dairy Co., and Mr. C. E. Morrissey, as representing the commercial houses and trading interests of Kaponga, should be the speakers of a deputation: to wait upon <■ the railway authorities. The executive officers from Wanganui have promised to meet the deputation at Kapuni to-morrow (Thursday) at 10.30 to discuss l the matter- fully. In addition to the Kaponga. delegates there will be representatives of the Manaia farming and trading interests. The. railway officials have, indicated that the meeting will be open to the general public, and they will be prepared to answer any question put to them by others than members of the deputation after' they have formally replied to the latter.*
