Replying to Air. J. A. Lee (Auckland East) the Prime AHnister said the Government was endeavouring to make regulations which will place the least possible disability in the way of onearmed drivers of motor vehicles. Replying to Mr. G. W. Forbes, Sir Alaui Pomare said Air. Alow son, the town-planning officer, was appointed at a salary df £I2OO a year with no right of private practice. Air. E. .1. Howard gave notice of his intention to introduce a Licensing Amendment Bill. Air. H. E. Holland (Buffer) gave notice of his intention to introduce. an Education Amendment Bill. By Governor-General’s message the , Registi'ation of Opticians Bill was introduced and read a first time. The Hon. J. A. Young (Minister of Health) said the Biff was on much the same lines as last year’s measure, and was in accordance with requests made for such legislation. The Minister laid on the table the report of the Alental Hospitals Department, in the discussion of which members took the opportunity to ventilate the requirements of local institutions. The Minister replied to inquiries and (thanked members for their general approval of the care taken of mental'deiectives in public institutions. By Governor-General’s message the Inspection of Alachinery Bill and the Noxious AYeeds Bill were introduced [ and read a first time. Both are consolidating measures. <
