PRISON BURGLED.
SAFE CONTAINING £IOOO STOLEN. ARMED PATROL ELUDED. (United Press Association—By Electric Tolegrapn Copyright.) ’ —United Service). • PARIS, July 30. Despite armed warders’ night-long patrol, three bare-footed burglars, who are supposed to be ex-convictis, entered the county prison at Melun early this morning and removed a safe from the governor’s office. The safe contained £IOJO, the warders’ wages and' prison maintenance lands. The burglars scaled the wall by medium of a ladder taken from an adjacent building, sawed through the iron window-bars, hauled and lowered the safe with ropes, and escaped in a motor-ear. The safe was found open in a forest seven miles away.
