FALSE DECLARATION ADMITTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association..) DANNEVIRKE, July 31. 'Before justices in the .Magistrate’s Court a young an an named William Sharplin, .pleaded guilty to nfaking a false declaration in respect to losses after a fire at a residence at Umutaroa in (May last; also with having, with intent to defraud, obtained from the State Eire Insurance Office £ll3 by means of false pretences by representing that he had articles of furniture and household goods destroyed in a fire which occurred .about two weeks after the cover had been effected subject to inspection of the goods insured and the day before the inspection Was to take place. He was committed to the 'Supreme Court for sentence. ALLEGED ARSON. (GISBORNE, July 30. Charged with arson by wilfully set-, ting fire to the Makaraka Hotel stables on the night of May 29, .a M.akauri drover, iGeorge Campbell, Was to-day committed to the Supreme Court for trial. ■
