PATEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PERSONAL. Mrs. H. Sutherland, Miss L. Sutherland, and Mrs. McDonald, of Alton, have returned from a holiday visit to AAellington. Mrs. J. M. Smith senr., of Danne•ttvirke, who has been on a short visit to Patea and Hawera, returned by the mail train on Saturday morning. Mr Gordon Fraser is at present on holiday and intends visiting Paliiatua, AYellington, and Auckland. Miss M. Daley, Mrs Fagan and Mr. Thos. Moore have returned from a holiday spent in Opunake. LADIES’ GOLF MATCH. During the week a team of six ladies from the Patea club journeyed to Eltham and played a very enjoyable match with the Eitiiam club. Eltham won by four matches to two. The following are the results. Patea players being mentioned first: Miss T. Gibson 0 v. Miss Quin 1; Miss Taylor 0 v. Miss Connell 1; Miss C. Gilligan 1 y. Mrs. Stewart 0; Miss Glenny i v. Miss> AYilBon 0; Mrs. Harris 0 v. Mrs. De Launay. 1; Mrs. Glenny 0 v. Mrs. Wylcl 1. SCHOOL BASKETBALL. A very enjoyable match was played on Friday afternoon between teams from the" Patea Convent and public schools- The latter proved too strong for their opponents, winning by 12 points to 2. Miss M Armstrong refereed.
