Messrs J. Duffiill (president) amd A. K. Fyson (seorotaTy), of the Hawera Rotary Club, wore passengers iby the mail train. this morning to attend the Dominion conference of Ratnlry executives at Wellington this week.
Mr. William Arthur, who died at the Wanganui hospital on Wednesday, was an old and highly-esteemed resident of Wanganui. Nearly stliree score years ago he arrived there with his parents and brothers, who took up their abode on the Market Square (Moutoa Gardens), then the commercial centre of Wanganui. He was a brother of Mr. Alfred Arthur, of Hawera, Mr E. J. Beths, president of the South Taranaki Farmers ’ Union, 'and Mcs'sris R. Damn and .T. Cooker .were pastseugers hy the mail train ithiis morning (for Wellington, where 'they ntTend the annual Farmers’ Union Conference, at Wcilllington this week.
