A conference of members of the Taranaici Law Society was held in New Plymouth to-day, when matters of interest to the profession were discussed. The lessee may apply for relief to the Supreme Court, which may assess damages or compensations as it thinks fit. Applications for relief must be made with three months after the commencement of the new legislation coming into operation where leases have already expired, or in other cases within three months of the lessor’s refusal to grant renewal.
