SCHOOL CONCERT AND DANCE. PROCEEDS TO HOSPITAL ‘RADIO. (From Our 'Own Correspondent). The annual fancy dress- and plain dance held by the school at Whaireroia, organised under the aegis of /.the committee, was this year by a unanimous agreement devoted 1 to the funds of the Hospital radio, it was lieud' lash night, and proved 'one of the most successful yet held., and was thoroughly enjoyed by tire large company present. There, were many car 'loads, and a special ’buys cam© from Hawent and also numbers of visitors from other parts. The ball presented a very picturesque appearance with its bright illuminations jotting off the pretty and artistic costumes. of the little dancers. The floor was in capital order, and to the good music supplied by Miss Butler’s orchens*tra the dancers "had a. thoroughly good time.

During the evening there was a very attractive programme of chnldiren’s dance® and demonstrations, of eurylthinies, in which tire suiting of the Jet ion to the style of music was most striking. The little people entered thoroughL into the. spirit of the movements:, ano were, accorded an enthusiastic reception. Particular interest centred in the combined number “Fairies in the Storm,” when, after a. very pretty dance in the fairy ring, they dispersed to hide when the music indicated the tempest. English folk dances were also l given, comprising a grand march, ’‘Nuts lain-d May,” “Scandinavian,” “Sir Roger de Cover ley,” “Finger Polka,” “On the Bridge,” and “The Ace of Diamonds.” Tn addition, solos were given by Evolve Williams (“Roek-a-bye Baby”) and "Mollie Wells (“Golden Slumbers”).
