LITTLE HOPE OF RESCUE

LONDON, July 19. The Stockholm correspondent of “The Times” states that a message has been received that the whole of the Swedish expedition has now been recalled. This signifies that there is small hope of rescue for the remaining exiles. The Norwegian Government does not intend to inquire into the circumstances of the Italia, expedition, hut has received . assurances from the Italian Government that it is being fully investigated, particularly the causes of the lives being lost. The Norwegian expedition remains to look for Contain Amundsen’s party. It is stated that General Nobile intends returning to Rome at the first opportunity. Commandant Mariano’s frost-bitten- leg has been amputated, and his condition is satisfactory.
