HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT
LOCAL BODY REPRESENTATION.
The. following letter from the Palmerston Aor tii Borough Council was read at the monthly meeting of the Eithani County Council on Saturday: ‘‘l am directed by the Palmerston. North Borough Council to inform you' that for some time, past the system of Hospital management and local body representation on hospital boards has received serious consideration, and my council lias come to the conclusion. 1 that there is urgent need for concerted action on the part of all approaching the Government with a request that the whole system of control be revised, with the object of definitely defining the future policy of public hospital revenue and expenditure. “Referring to the constitution of hospital boards, my council is also of the opinion that the Hospital and Charitable Aid Institutions Act should! be amended to enable county, city, and bo rough councils having direct representation thereon, and it therefore asks that your council' give the matters mentioned herein .earnest consideration, and if in favour of bringing such matters before the Government would you kindly reply as early as possible to enable arrangements being made for a deputation representing the contributing bodies to wait upon the Government during the forthcoming session of Parliament.” The chairman (Or. C. J. Belcher) said this matter would be discussed at the next Counters’ Conference; when) a number of remits, with the object of bringing pressure to beai* on the Government, would he presented, 1 Cr. W. E. Carter said the Farmers’ Union Conference also intended to discuss' the subject.
