America seems to have discovered its own- “Boy” Charlton in \a youth muifed Johiiiiy Ruddy, a member of the New York Athletic Club. ' Ruddy, at 6 years of age, has beaten Norman Ross’-s 600, 700 and 800 yards records. Ruddy is described as America’s wonder boy by H. H. Baxter, who lias been long associated with the club, and has attended the past lour Olympiads'. At present he is ' in London making arrangements for tlie American team. Tlie special representative of the “Sydney Sun” sought his views on the prospers erf another Weismuller,Oliarlton race; but lie was mote desirous of praising Ruddy, who, lie hopes, despite ids youth, will be included m the American team. Ruddy prefers distances. Baxter prophesies - lie .may shatter records made toy Charlton, Borg and Weismuller. “America's watching your hoy all right, but our Johnny won everything he undertook at the national championships at Chicago in April, by streets, and was never fully extended,” he said. “Ruddy won the 230yds in 2min 'lO 2-osee; the 500yds in 5.35, finishing nearly two laps ahead and swimming easily.
