ARCTIC EXPLORERS
THE MISSING MEN LITTLE PROSPECT OF RESCUE. ACCIDENT TO THE KRASSIN. tAustralian Press Association—United Service.) Received 10.45 a.m. to-day. LONDON, July 9. A message from King’s Bay states that a conference of the commanders of the Citta di Milano and French and Swedish cruisens has planned a concerted search, which will be abandoned if there is no trace of Captain Amundsen in a fortnight. The ice breaker Krassin has a broken propellor and a damaged rudder, and is drifting eastwards. The Stockholm correspondent of the Central News Agency states that Tomberg, the leader of the Swedish expedition, reported to the Ministry that it was impossible that anything further could be done for the Italia’s missing men. Hie thinks that those who were carried off in the airship have now- perished, as well as Malogren’s trio who left on foot to seek help. Nor is it possible to reach. General Nobile’s party by air; the only hope for them is from the Krassin.
