GRAND 'OPERA, JAZZ AND DANCING. OPENING MONDAY NIGHT. The new show to be presented.; by the Haweira Amateur Operatic Society, ‘ ‘The Puncabowl,” is rust approaching its opening night. In this bright, musical show the public will bo able to see something of the versatility of 'the members of the Society. From start to. finish “The, Punch Bowl” is full of “punch,” and the .happy choruses are well rendered. Under the wachfull eyes of the producers. Messrs Card-, ston and Baxter, the large company has entered into the gaity of the show, and it is obvious that the members, enfoy their work. T.be singing R parneutarly go-od, the company possessing some well-known soloists, and they an? assisted by strong choruses and bright dancing. * The dancing of Air. J. D. Baxter is of professional calibre, and be is cap aby assisted by Mrs. Low. There are many choruses worthy of mention, and it is difficult ito single out any particular item. One which is ®ure to meet with all-round approval, however, is the Saxophone Waltz, a delightful meljpdy well presented. In this the company is led by Airs. Low and Mr. L. "Barton, and a novel effect is produced by the use of miniature saxophones. In this, ais in every othar item prese n t ed. or igin a I ity predomin atetS, The whole programme is well fait out; in fact it is clear, that the compilers of the. programme intend to keep, the audience on the tip-toe of expectation. Preparations for the opening night are now well in hand, and as those responsible for the production are well satisfied with • their progress, there is every indication that those who. witness the first performance will be delighted with the talent displayed. The box plan is now open at Miss Blake’s confectionary store.
