WAIKATO DIOCESE.
RECENT UNREST REFERRED TO. COMMITTEE’S REPORT ADOPTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) “HAMILTON, July 5. In reference to the unrest in the Waikato diocese, the synod has adopted the special committee’s report, dec: la ring that there is widespread mieasiness regarding tTie actions and policy of the bishop, and assuring the bishop of the whole-hearted support o f the synod: also stating that in future it was desirable that the bishop should l>e guided by a standing committee, quite open, candid and fearless in its advice to the bishop, not in a spirit of opposition, but in the best interests both of the bishop and the diocese. After the report had been adopted Bishop Cherrinpton stressed the sincerity of his offer to resign, and expressed his willingness to abide by the spirit of the resolution.
