BIG SHOW OPENING ON MONDAY

With the final dress rehearsal to take place during the week-end. the finishing touches will bo put to ‘ ‘The Punch Bowl,” which will run a season of four nights at the Opera House, commencing on Monday. The .producers, Messrs 0. Cardston and J. D. Baxter, who have had the large company Of amateurs in hand for some weeks, have reason to feel assured of the' su'ee'ess olf the entertainment. Of the members of the company, many have appeared [before Ilavvora audiences on previous occasions, their Work being responsible for the success achieved by the. IT'awera Amateur Operatic iSoeiety. “The Punch Bowl” is a new venture for the society. It. is a. bright show, full of melody and mirth, bright choruses and ballets predominating. There are also many clever sketches to be presented, and the sextette, in “Scenes from Grand Opera,” give a sketch from the well-known opera “Aida.” The principals in this are Mrs M. J. Good son (Aida), Miss C. Reilly, Messrs Douglas McQuin, 0. J. Me Fad yon, and L. Chadwick. This sketch, a particularly .strong one, is one of many with which the programme is interspersed, others being “The King Isn't King any More,” and “The Blow Train to New Plymouth,” both clever, bright items which are sure to please. Opening with “The iStirring of the Bowl,” the programme .runs through twenty-three •“punches,” ending with a spirited finale “A Wonderful” Kid from Madrid,” rendered bv the whole company.
