HOW' BRITAIN COMPARES WITH OTHER COUNTRIES.

(Britisli Official Wireless.) /RUGBY, June 22. In to-day’s Parliamentary papers the Chancellor of the Exchaquer (the Rt. Hon. Winston Churchill) gives- the latest figures available showing taxation per head of population in various countries.

In the financial' year ended in 1926 the taxation per head was: In Great Britain £ls 2s Bd, compared with £8 os lOd in France, £5 6s 5d in Germany, £3 8s 9d in Italy, and £6 Is lid in the United States

in the year before the war the figures were: Great Britain £3 11s 4d, France £3 7s, Germany £1 10s Bd, Italy £2 2s Bd, United States £1 7s lid

By far the largest increase is that of Great Britain, wherb the taxation is £ll 11s 4d greater per head than the pre-war figures. The largest proportion of this increase is attributable to the war debt funding agreement, pensions, and other war liabilities.
