(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 23, There was a good attendance for the first day of the Auckland Trotting Club’s winter meeting. The weather was fine until after the first race, when rain commenced. The track was holding. Results: MANGKRE HANDICAP.
Of 300 sovs. One and a half miles. 1 Pageant (Tomkinson) 1 4 Harvest Child 2 20 Master Councillor 3 All started: Won by three-quarters of a length, with three lengths, between second and third. Time, 3.35 1-5. a WINTER HANDICAP. Of 300 svs. 1) miles. 3 Raima (Head) 1 II Call Boy 2 5 Kolmar 3 Scratched : Di 'lon Repute, Gold Star, Appeal, Mora line. Won by two lengths, with one and a half lengths .between second and third. Time, 4.57. 2-5. HOBSON HANDICAP. Of 400 sovs. Two rnies. 2 Pageant (J. Bryce) 1 5 Beremai 2 3 Dion Huon 3 Scratched: Van Cap. Won by half a length, with a head between second and third. Lingtield was coupled with the winner. MARK MEMORIAL. Of 1000 sovs. Two mias. 2 Gold Jacket (A. Bryce) 1 3 Peterwah '. 2 8 Dalmeny 3 Tom Thumb was fourth. Scratched: Young Blake, Logan Chief and Native Prince. Won By one and a quarter lengths, with a neck between second and third. Time, 4.45 3-5.
