Owing to the above- cattle being well forward and in good condition, the average price tor the whole nerd was about £l4 per head. Among these arc Messrs F. Maw. H. Webby, W. <J. Williams, J. Broudbent and T. A. Austin and families'.- To arrange farewell socials for those who have assisted in the general wall are of the district to some marked degree a strong committee, with Messrs T. Kilpatrick as chairman, and E. F. Sundford a-s. secretary, has been formed. The first of these socials is to be tendered to Mr They. Austin and family on Friday evening. The ladle® of Ausroa held a social afternoon last Thursday in order to farewell M.r® Austin, who has been very helpful in assisting at almost every local function held- at. Auroa. during th.c part four years. On behalf of the ladies of Auroa. Mrs A. ©. Johnstone presented Mrs Austin with, a- handisonie leather purse, wishing the recipient every .success in the future. Mrs Austin, in thanking her friends for the- gift-, sa.id that *hp- "was loath to leave Auroa. -but hoped to some of the people occasion nf’y .in the future. LOCAL GATHFIRINGS. Some misunderstanding occurred in the report of the Auroa. spouts' meeting, which stated that Mr A. F. Kruse received £5 donation for 'his service*', whereas it should have r-snid that Mr F. Aron, was voted £5 ton rinds his expenses on behalf of the .Sjiorts Club. The Library Commit tee has* been holding it*/' euchre parties every Wcdni’sdar with a fair amount of success, dn spite of the wet night, last Wednesday's party was successful. The local Methodists are arranging to make a feature of their anniversary tea next Tuesday, as a good programme of songs and elocutionary items has been arranged to follow the tea. GENERAL. Mr. W. Bradford, who had the misfortune to receive a fracture of the leg while playing football at Kaponga, is is till, an inmate of the Hawera Hospital. and owing to the nature of the break will have to remain there for some time to come. This young player has been greatly missed from the Kaponga backs this' season, and .the improved form he had shown before his accident would have greatly strengthened his team.
Quite a number of local residents have been victims to an aggravating true of influenza, which leaves serious after effects. SCH OOL CO M MITTE E. The semnd meeting of the Anroa householders proved little better than the first, as only the bare members to form the committee was present. The following were duly declared members of the committee for the ensuing rear: Messrs. S. AY. Hailey, H. H. Buxton. J. C. Duff, E. F. Davison. T. Blair. Y. Sheerin and T. Kilpatrick. At the subsequent meeting Mr. T. Kilpatrick was- elected chairman and Mr. J. C. Duff secretary.
