SERVICE CAR CRASHES.
ROLLS OVER 25-FOOT BANK
MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED.
Travelling from Hawci'a to New Plymouth a service car driven by Air Jo's. Fowler went over a 25-foot bank on the south side of the Alangiorcd factory early last evening and was completely wrecked. Seven adult passengers and a baby were .travelling With driver. One of the passengers, John Lord, aged about 56 years, a commercial traveller, residing An. Ohris'teihnireh, was taken to the New Plymouth Hospital suffering from injuries to hits back, and was reported at midday to-day a© being An a serious condition.
Among tlie passengers was Air AY. T. AVeills, of Alanaia, who sustained head injuries and is receiving medical attention, at an hotel An New Plymouth. He wjas reported this morning to be making favourable progress, though a head wound necessitated the insertion of several stitches. The driver was slightly injured, but not isufficiently to necessitate his. admission to hospital and the remaining travellers miraculously escaped with only a. .severe shaking, and its consequent shock. Before reaching the scene of He accident the headlights of the, car had fused and it was .proceeding slowly with He aid of only the parking lights. Bordering trees caused intense darkness at tile point of the mishap and the car went, over the unfenoed bank, rolling over three times through bracken until it came to rest some twenty-five feet below the road level.
