RELIEF 1 OF SHIPWRECKED' SAILORS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, June 14. The Shipwreck Relief Society has telegraphed £IOO for the relief of the .eleven members of the wrecked trawler, Thomas Bryan. This was the amount suggested by Captain Attwood.

DUNEDIN, June 14. A comprehensive programme of works, which is expected to provide relief for 160 men during the winter, was adopted by the City Council. It was stated that in “addition Govern- ; ment works would absorb 130 men. I The council’s proposal provides for expending £14,585 at the relief rate of j pay prescribed by the Government. j EPIDEMIC OF TYPHOID^ . CHRISTCHURCH. June 14. Residents of Little River .and .surrounding districts are becoming alarmed at the continuance of the epidemic of 'typhoid among the Maoris. The AYairewa County Council decided at its last meeting to telegraph to the Minister of Health urging that drastic measures be taken to make thorough, inspections of dwellings where typhoid has occurred, and to p'.‘event the spread of the disease.
