A rara avis in the' shape of a young New Zealander who did not know of the existence of the All Blacks has been discovered in Waihi (states an exchange). The young man was asked by a local resident if he had heard the result of the first game in South. Africa, and made —for a New Zealander—the somewhat startling admission that he did not know of the existence of the famous combination sent out to uphold the Dominion’s splendid football record. On being enlightened on this point the young man dismissed the subject by intimating that he was interested in carpentry, and had no time to- bother about football. Arthur Francis Fredericks, who, when charged on December 9 with having been found on licensed premises after -hours, was ordered to reappear in six months time, was convicted and discharged in the Hawera Court today, after Sergeant Henry had reported that, except for a breach of his prohibition order, defendant had conducted himself in a satisfactory manner. In suggesting that defendant he discharged, the sergeant pointed out that anv fine would penalise defendant’s wife and family.
