CHARGE AGAINST BANK CLERK. (by telegraph—press association.) NAPIER, June 12. At the Police Court a bank clerk, named Francis William Thomas Ram die, was charged .with the theft of £487, the property of the Union Bank. He was remanded and further charges may iesult. SUPREME COURT AT GISBORNE. GISBORNE, .June 12 The Supreme Court opened i ids morn, ing before Air. Justice Ostler. There was only one case for trial, a Maori being charged with theft of wool. Peter Elder Ramsay, for burglary, was admitted to probation for two years. Moetu Haua, aged 23, for a serious offence against a girl, was ordered to be detained for reformative treatment for 18 months. MAORI GIRLS’ OFFENCE. GISBORNE. .Tune 12. Maori gin’is, aged 13 and 17, admitted in the Child Welfare Court, that they had wilfully burned a five-roomed house at Ruatcrea, belonging to the father of the younger girl. The Magistrate committed the younger girl to the cure of the Child Welfare Department, the elder being admitted to probation. ■CHARGE WITH POSSESSING A FORGED NOTE. AUCKLAND, June 12. Bertram John Bissell wa's charged at the Police Court to-day with being in .possession of <a forged one pound note. He was arrested on his arrival by the limited express 'this morning. * It was stated that the accused cashed a -forged note 'at the Taihape refreshment room. “The forgeries were traced on ordinary paper and were a poor imitation, hut might pass at night. The accused was remanded. ANOTHER CHARGE TO BE PREFERRED. AUCKLAND, June 12. John Henry Victor Mansill, an exsolicitor of Auckland, at present serving a sentence of reformative detention for theft of moneys, is to be charged with the forgery of a memorandum of mortgage for £6OO. When the charge was read' at the Police Court to-day, Chief Detective Hammond stated- that the- charge had been entered in error for to-day. Mansill would be brought fiom gaol to the court on Monday next and charged with- the- offence. ORDERED REFORMATIVE TREATMENT. GISBORNE, June 12. Herbert Hall Webb, -aged 23, who yesterday pleaded guilty (to four charges of th-eft- of £142, the prpe-rtv of the- gramophone- company, bv whom he wa-s employed was -sentenced! by the Magistrate to 18 months’ detention for refonnat.ire treatment.
