LADIES’ GAMES.

HAAVERA ROVERS 2 v. AIANAJA 0

The Hawera Rovers met the Alanaia ladies oil the latterY ground, which was very bumpy, but this did not i itvenl some very fast hockey being played. Hawera played with ten players Ihroughoub. In the first spell play travelled up ancl down field, neither aide showing to advantage, but once the teams changed sides the Hovers kept the ball in the home circle, missing shot after shot at goal, several good saves being made by the Alanaia goalie, T. Saltier. From a penalty corner the ball was sent tq J. Prime, who touched on to Al. .Langford, who finished the movement with a shot that would have taken a brick wall to stop. Following the score Alanaia rallied and carried ■ play to Rovers circle, only to be sent back by the Rovers mack half, Al. Evans. The forwards followed up the advantage and J. AlcGiashan scored Rovers second goal. After this play hovered about Alanaials twenty-five till the final whistle, leaving Rovers victorious by two goals to nil. The outstanding player on the ground was Al. Evans, who played up to rep. form. I. Prime also shone out in the forward line. The winners all played a good game. For Alanaia T. Sattler, V. Griffin, B. Young and Al. AYiLson were prominent. Mr Y r . Warner was referee. t I-lIGH SCHOOL A (3) v. ELTHAAI (0). This game was played on King Edward Park grounds and was marked by the good spirit between the teams. Flay was of a very high order, the spectators being keyed up to a state or excitement, especially in the first spell, when play went up and down field at a great rate, both teams striving hard for a lead. School managed to get to the circle about liali-way through the spell, and amidst great excitement K. I cosgrove scored a nice goal. This was 1 the only score in the first spell. In the second spell School played great hockey and was continually in front of the Eltham goal, and eventually gained two more goals, both from tiie stick of B. Stevens. Eltham then took a hand in attack, but found Aliss Guy, the school custodian, in first-class form, some of her saves being brilliant. None of the Eltham players can well be singled out from the others, all played a gooil game hut found the local girls at top of their form. For School, Aliss Guy deserved special mention for her work in the goal mouth Both full-backs played well, as also the halves and forwards, the work of the team as a whole reflecting great credit on their coach. This win places School in the leading position, with Rovers one point belaud.

Alessrs. Foreman and E. 'Fryer eon trolled the game.

ROVERS v. EAAIBLERS

Played yesterday morning this game resulted in the Rovers romping over their opponents, winning by 5 goals to 1 after a ragged game. Each team played one player short. For the winners -goals were scored by I. Prime (2), J. AlcGiashan (2), and V. Death. The Ramblers’ score was contributed by Al. AA'ooliiam.s. Air. H. R. ,Kemp controlled the game.

OTAKEHO v. PUT A ALA. Otakeho and Pihama met on the latter’s ground oil Saturday, the game resulting in. a win for Otakeho by 2 goals to nil. There were some good movements, the ball passing quickly from one end of the field to the other. Infringements were noticeable on both sides. Pilvama were unfortunate in not searing hut the Otakeho defence was too gooil. Mrs D'avies and Aliss L. Putt were showing greatly improved form for the winners, while the Missels Donaghy anil Pollock played well for the losers. The Misse® Mcßae and B. Putt scored a, goal each.

Air Davies ,refereed. The visitors were hospitably entertained at afternoon tea.
