Recent rains had made the track slow. After the third race the judicial committee fined W. T. Lowe, owner and driver of Trampfast. £1 for speaking to people after lie had gone out on to the course. Pangiteix* ran second both times. Aiienchi, the much-boomed horse tr. in To Awamotu, had tlie services of J. T. Paul, but rated very greenly. Ce Advaneeur stopped badly after going a mile. Jasper was lucky to get second. Ho is not of great quality. Hostess lias gone off; she raced badly. J. Landers left Lady Kevin in Hastings. She was no better with a change of trainers. Koliara. who won tlie last New Zealand Cup, arrived in Ilawera last week. He lias been leased by Mr. Corrigan, and will join •}. Bullock’s team. Koliara is a line black entire, and, only being a young horse, may still race well. Me lias a tine record, lie won the Sapling Stakes at two years, the Derbies at three years; qualified for tlie" Now Zealand Cup at four years, and won the Cup at live years.
