FOUND ON PREMISES. [by tebegkaph—press association.] WELLINGTON, June 4. John Cferkin, a labourer, aged 56, at the Court to-day admitted being found on tiie premises of the Bristol 'Piano Company without lawful excuse, but in circumstances that did not disclose the commission of or intention to commit any other offence. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness.

The accused was found on the premises by the night watchman, and apparently entered’ by the back door, which was not locked. It was considered he was not on the premises with any sinister object. The Magistrate told the accused to be more careful when he came to town. Accused apparently had some kind of hazy idea, that he had been looking for a friend.

TAXI-DRIVER FINE® FOR INTOXICATION. AUCKLAND, June 4. William Malcolm, aged 27, a taxidriver, was fined £lO in the Police Court to-day for being intoxicated while in charge of a motor car, and his driving license was cancelled for six months. Evidence was given that accused collided with a tramway centre pole. Dr. Fisdell Moore said accused after the accident, telephoned to two> persons from the witness’s house, and ■witness never thought for a moment that he was drunk. According to the police the accused had had five gins, and although quite able, to walk, was under the influence of liquor. A City Council traffic inspector said accused was not in a fit condition to drive a car. SENTENCES AT NAPIER. NAPIER, June 5. Jack Punakai was ordered three years’ detention at a- Borstal Institute at the Supreme Court to-day, for breaking and entering. Florence May Gerrard for committing mischief by burning a car wa.s admitted to probation for twelve months.
