(To the Editor.) , Sijp I, like many others, hlave been Waiting -to see if subscription lists are going to ibe opened in aid of the widow and young children of <t'he above tragedy. Where is the chairman of .the county, or the councillor of the district or the mayor? I am isure it only ■wants a 'Start and a substantial 'amount would be collected for the 'widow who lost her husband and five children in the recent fire. This is the saddest case one has ever heard of in 2S T ew Zealand. Yours, etc., — SYMPATHETIC.
