DECISION FAVOURS HUNT CLUB.
INTERESTING REPORT FROM WAIKATO.
Though publicity wa« given to (the fact that a deputation from tho Waikato Hunt Club met- the Prime Minister 'recently in support of the club’s application for a Labour Day racing permit, the result of the conference has not, so far been -made public. “The Hawera Star’s” sporting writer, “Maecenas,” learns from «a reliable source that Air Coates agreed to honour the promise said to 'have been given by the late Air Bollard als Minister of Internal Affairs- and the club will receive a permit for Labour Day this year. It. is understood that the Prime Minister anode it clear that the permit holdsgood during the life of the -present Parliament only.
This decision ha-s its interest -for racing enthusiasts generally, as widespread publicity was given last year to the discussions- on- the point between, .the Minister, the Waikato Hunt Club, the Waikato Racing -Club (the latter being also a claimant for the day’s permit), and- .the Racing Conference.
