SUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENT.
ANGLO-CANADIAN SCHEME

A joint enterprise of the British and Canadian Governments which was started three years ago for .assisting the emigration of whole families dram Great Britain to Canada has just been coniipleted. Its object was to send out 3000 families to stvtlo on the land., the Buitish Government contributing £3OO per familv on advantageous terms and, the Canadian authorities providing the neccsssarv equipment and after-care. Only a. very small fraction of the total ha via failed to make good. The two* Governments, considering that the experiment lias been successful, are now discussing arrangements for its application to a further 2000 families who (shall g : , to the Western Provinces, Of the previous families over 1/00 emigrants had some a gricul turn Inexperience, and of the .remainder 370 were •vtonus, 203 gmoral labourers and 553 miners.
